So if you have installed new apps and your system preferences become cluttered with alot of icons a great things is that with Lion you can hide them and here is how you do it.
From network preferences simply click and hold the Show All button after a few seconds a pop up windows should show up , from here select customize and uncheck any unwanted icons and click done.
